Watched a TV-program about gravity this evening. The gravity net in the universe, keeping it all together. Then this little friend weaved a net on my balcony. Nice. Havn´t seen such a nice net for years.

Newly washed forest

A strange wheathertype is now present in Sweden. It´s like april but harder. A lot of showers, hard ones. This image is taken after one of them when I walked through a small forest in reaincloths and rubberboots. The sun came out and, as in this image, shone very bright in the raindrops on the greenary. Almost hard to look at.

Canadian gees

More then 300 canadian gees were on the lake yesterday. They are gathering for the migration (to go south) soon. So, no quiet trip in the kayak that time. They are pretty loud as times.

It is raining today so I thought I´d go to the kayak barn to do some work. On the way there I thought I take some rainy day images. But...............to my surprise...........I had no camera with me. None of them! Don´t think that have ever happened before. Therefore, no image today.

This was a beauty well worth the trip I took yesterday. Biked to a forest south of town. I also saw a small frog, but that one was so fast I did not get it "on film".

Last wednesday there was a kayaking race for beginners aged 12 to 16 years old. For some of them it was their first race so they were quite exited. As I am in charge for the clubs homepage I was documenting the event with my camera and posted it on the site. (in swedish)

On a distance I had problems determine wheater this was three herons or three branches. Turned out to be one Grey heron. Image taken in the kayak.

Met this guy yesterday. The Swedish name means Golden dragonfly. So, kind of an expensive acquaintance I guess. Met it in the forest, not by a lake.

Flying free

Imagine how it was.........sitting in the kayak trying to capture that bird overhead. Quite challenging to keep the body still, when instinct wants to follow the movements of that bird. Not to go overboard.

Latticed heath and duck having fun

Latticed Heath (Rutig Buskmätare), a very nice butterfly. Seen images of it before but this was teh first one I captured "on film". Or maybe "on memorycard" would be more proper today.

This duck had a lot of fun smashing water. Don´t know why she did it but it was fun to watch.

School of playfull fish

lol, an image of a school of small fish. It was quite fun. They were jumping like crazy. They were about 8cm long I think. Tried to take some last year but failed completely. But last week I saw this when paddling close to land. Took the camera and shoot some. OK, it is not any miliondollar photo, but it was fun taking it.

After lunch I biked to the lake. No clouds on the sky and not much wind either. Temperature +3۫C. Perfect!Took the kayak out for a tour. Spent about 1.5h on that lake. Nice! Had some fun with layers of thin ice here and there. Played the game of ice-breaking. lol

Had a very nice afternoon in the forest and at Viren. Some snow on the wooden bridge but no ice on the water. Made a pretty nice pid I think.

Mother of pearl clouds, stiched

Was playing a little with stiching function in my Power Shot camera. Was a bit hard with the clouds, but think it came out pretty good anyway. This is made from 3 different images.

Where is the ice?

Hey, it is January, why am I paddling? There was no ice at all on the lake. Just a bit in the reed. I spotted a swan and a heron and some ducks, of course. Had a lot of clothes on, it was +2deg C. My feet was cold, otherwise no problems.

This little butterfly (vitt nässelmott) visited my bathroom a couple of days ago. It had got the seasons all wrong. It should fly in august as far as I know.

It´s getting dark early now. This was taken around 16.00 in the afternoon. There are some ice left on the bridge and a thin layer of ice covers the water partly. The sunset was beautiful as it often is in November. In fact, the only thing beautiful in Nov.

When I woke up this morning there was a frostbite and mist. And the sun shining. Hardly believed it. Got some fast breakfast and got on my bike. Started to take pics just outside the town area. Brought two digital cameras and lenses. The good thing with digital is that you can take a lot of images. Trying out different settings to get what you want. At home Windows got me a hard time going through them so I show three here now. But I took about 120 in all. So, had fun. But windows and Photoshop was overloaded. :(

In the afternoon I even paddled. But that starts to get hard. Too much clothing in the kayak makes you feel as movable as Santa in the chimney. lol

Met a baby female viper today. A small but angry creature. I estimate it´s lenght to about 10 cm. How it can be so small in the end of september I don´t know. Not too cold today for it as it seems.

See, but don´t touch! Or eat. These fly agaric (flugsvamp) are poisonous but very beautiful.

Djulö from Gatstuberg

Climbed the rock of Gatstuberg today. This is the highest point in Katrineholms surroundings. I think so anyway. The view is over Djulö, the mansion and the lake. That is where I am kayaking. There were some lingon that I picked too. And, as always this summer, threatening thunderclouds. This pic is also taken with the old Revio camera. Hasn´t got my Canon back yet.

Parasite??

This sight made me jump, what is it? Turned out to ba an impatiens_glandulifera (balsamin) growing in the bark of an old tree. Where teh seed came from I have no idea because there was none close by. Maybe a bird placed it there, or a person thought if would be fun. Did get my attention at least.
The pic is taken with my old "pocketcamera" a Revio C2. My Canon:s electrical system is broken and the camera is in for, hopefully, repair.

to Forsjö and back by bike

Took an afternoon tour by bike around the Forssjö Lake. This view of swedish farmland goes straight to my heart. The bluewings flew on the other side of the road along with some other speices. It is quite fun trying to catch them "on film".

Met a fellow that mirrowed my mood today. It was a Camberwell Beauty (Nymphalis antiopa) hiding under wood. We call it "Sorgmantel" which is app "mourning cape" when translated.

Amiral butterfly and Grebe with new hatched chick

This beauty landed on a climbing wall for "adventure for kids school" in the forest. Took some pics and then slowly put my hand close to it. The swedish name is Amiral, Admiral in english. It climbed up on my fingers and wtayed there for several minutes. My problem was handling the camera with one hand and to get teh right distance. But I succeded. :)

And this beauty, my friend the Grebe has finally hatched some young. You can see one of them at the arrow. I could see two, but as she was still in the nest I think there were more eggs. This bird has accepted my presence. I arrive very slowly in my kayak. Today she was a bit alarmed, I understood why when I heard the sound of one young and then when I saw it on her back. That is why she has those rised feathers. This is her second batch, she lost the first.

I was lucky today.

Sympetrum flaveolum (gulfläckad ängstrollslända)

Was picking raspberries at Djulö 4H when I spotted this dragonfly. If I translate the name to english it is "yellowspotted medow dragonfly". Nice name. :) It´s only the second time I see one of those. I have started to report on the "Artportalen" a data bank for keeping track of animals, insects, plants and birds.(a species data bank). That´s where I found it´s name.

Galeopsis speciosa (Hampdån)

This is a plant more or less considered trash. But I find it very beautiful. When I was a kid we picked the flowers and sucked out the nectar, if we got there before the humblebees. :) Then we tried to whissle. If lucky the sound was very nice. Still do it sometimes. The flower is about the size of this picture.
I had a hard time finding the name of the plant. Think I have been looking for about 3 weeks before I found it on the net.

Old goddies/Gammal Goding

My old goodie, nowadays it stays on display on a bookshelf. I don´t know the year it was made, but I had it for maybe 45 years. I used it as a teenager on my first ridingcamp. I believe that if I had film, it would still give great pics.

Kayaking

A Grebe (dopping) with a new hatched young on its back. It was the second brood this summer. There was a second one swimming too.

On my way back I spent some time chasing this ball. I had to take some air out to be able to paddle with it. Two kids was happy getting it back and I had a great time catching it. lol .The girl took this photo of me with the ball attached to the kayak.

Biking home I met this little roedeer (rådjur). It seemed very qurious, seemed almost eager to come towards me but was then scared off by a train.

Usually this place is dull and somewhat boring. The rain and cloudy weather made it a lot more interesting.

There are a lot of anthills in the forest. Many of them are, like this one, as tall as I am. The ants are black common forestants.

Forest walk a cloudy day

It´s cloudy today. Am testing other functions in the camera. This is taken with "greenary" set. That function gives nice green colors, but I noticed it is not good for skies. The sky and clouds becomes too blue.

Met this little gal (think so anyway). Looks like a bridal dress. The featerlike antennas tells it is a male. The species is "Cabera pusaria". (snövit streckmätare )

Gangquarrel

When biking down to Djulö lake today I came right in the middle of a gangquarrel. A bunch of seagulls (måsar) and jackdaws (kajor) fighting over easy food on harvested land. You can also see it as a fight between white and black. :)

Swallow and butterfly (Camptogramma bilineata )

The young barnswallows finally shows themselves. Had a nice time watching them before getting in the kayak. Three is visible here but I saw 5 for a moment.

On my way home I found this butterfly on a bush. With help from Bert Gustavsson and his website I now know it is a Camptogramma bilineata (gulvingad fältmätare).

Family and Orphans

The Grebes (doppingar) seem to be used to my kayak now. I can come rather close to them without disturbing them. It feels good.

Yesterday I found two lonely ducklings (andungar). No parents in sight. It was a pitty. They had lost two siblings and their mother. Today I did not see the two either. They can´t make it on their own.

Barnswallow in barn (Ladusvala i lada)

Have tried for a while now to get a shot at the swallows in the barn where the kayaks is. It is difficult, have taken hundreds of shots. And suddenly, it happens. Got this shot just at the swallows turningpoint. Can´t say I was clever. This things is merely to have patience and luck. And to get a perfect pic you also need a very good equipment. Mine is not good enough to get that really good one in that dark situation that is in the barn.

I was thinking of cropping the picture, but decided I wanted the atmosphere in the barn to show.

Well, so far this is my best pick. Now I want to see some young, Havn´t done that yet.

Messed up

Today I messed up. I accidently changed the ISO setting to ISO400 and was not aware or it. So, a lot of my pics today looks as it they were taken in a very dark day. Not that sunny day I experienced. Well, things like that happens. I took some pics of Grebes and their young. Thought that this pic was cool and thought I´d share it despite the bad quality. It could have been "perfect". But maybe there will be another opportunity.

Hi everybody that might visit my photo blog.

I will start out with a pic that is hard to make a real “hit”. It is kids getting into kayaks and their teacher getting into a small boat. But this is a part of my life now. I am responsible for the website of that kayaking club. This night was calm, but it started to rain a bit while out on the water. I have my own kayak, quite stable, so I can bring my camera.
